NEWTON, Iowa (August 8, 2026) — Anthony Alfredo and the No. 96 Viking Motorsports Chevrolet battled through an eventful afternoon at Iowa Speedway on Saturday, overcoming a mid-race setback to earn a 19th-place finish in the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series Hy-Vee Perks 250.

Alfredo began the weekend showing solid speed around the challenging .875-mile Iowa oval. The No. 96 Chevrolet posted the 15th-fastest time during practice before Alfredo qualified 19th for the 250-lap event.

From the drop of the green flag, Saturday’s race proved to be a demanding one, with multiple cautions and changing track conditions keeping drivers and teams on their toes throughout the afternoon.

Alfredo’s race took a turn when he lost control of the No. 96 Chevrolet in Turn 4, bringing out the caution. Despite the setback, Alfredo was able to continue and the Viking Motorsports team went to work keeping him in the fight.

Rather than allowing the incident to define the afternoon, Alfredo regrouped and focused on making the most of the remaining laps.

As the race continued through a series of cautions and late-race restarts, Alfredo worked to regain track position and put himself back into contention for a solid finish.

When the checkered flag finally flew after 260 laps, Alfredo crossed the line in 19th position, completing every lap of the race and securing another top-20 finish for the No. 96 Viking Motorsports team.

The result capped a solid afternoon for Viking Motorsports, with teammate Parker Retzlaff finishing 13th in the No. 99 Chevrolet and both team entries completing the race on the lead lap.

While the afternoon presented its share of challenges, Alfredo and the No. 96 team once again demonstrated their ability to battle through adversity and make the most of a difficult day.

With Iowa behind them, Alfredo and Viking Motorsports will turn their attention to Daytona on August 28th as the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series continues its 2026 season.
