ANTHONY ALFREDO CONTINUES IMPRESSIVE LATE-SEASON RUN WITH SIXTH-PLACE FINISH AT DARLINGTON
Four Top-10 Finishes in Last Seven Starts, Including Three Top-Fives, Highlight Impressive Stretch for No. 96 Team
DARLINGTON, S.C. — Anthony Alfredo and Viking Motorsports continued their impressive late-season run Saturday night at Darlington Raceway, winning Stage 2 and finishing sixth in the Fleetio 200 with the No. 96 High Tide Metals Inc. / Carolina Fabricators Inc. Chevrolet.
Alfredo isn't competing in the NASCAR O'Reilly Auto Parts Series Chase, but that hasn't stopped the independent Viking Motorsports team from racing at the front against many of the championship contenders.
Darlington continued a strong stretch for Alfredo, who has now recorded four top-10 finishes in his last seven starts, including three top-five finishes.
Fast From the Start
Alfredo showed speed immediately, posting the third-fastest lap in practice before qualifying 12th.
He steadily worked his way forward after the green flag, finishing Stage 1 in sixth before becoming a factor for the lead during Stage 2.
Late in the stage, Alfredo made an aggressive move underneath Carson Kvapil through Turns 1 and 2 to take the top spot. He remained out front through the conclusion of the stage, earning his second stage victory of the 2026 season.
Alfredo led nine laps during the event and put himself in position to contend for the overall victory.
Pit Road Changes the Race
After winning Stage 2, Alfredo came to pit road with valuable track position. A slower stop dropped the No. 96 to sixth for the start of the final stage, taking away the advantage he had earned on the racetrack.
Alfredo remained competitive throughout the closing laps but was unable to regain the lost positions, ultimately taking the checkered flag in sixth.
While the finish may not completely reflect how strong the No. 96 was throughout the night, Darlington provided another example of the progress Viking Motorsports continues to make.
Against organizations with significantly greater resources, Alfredo and Viking Motorsports have shown they have the speed to run at the front and contend for wins.
Momentum Continues
The sixth-place result was Alfredo's eighth top-10 finish of the season, leaving him just one shy of matching his career best.
More importantly, the recent results show the direction of the program. Four top-10s in seven races — three of them top-five finishes — combined with Saturday night's stage victory have given Alfredo and Viking Motorsports considerable momentum heading into the final eight races of 2026.
The goal now is simple: turn that speed and consistency into a trip to Victory Lane.
